Selim Algar is a veteran reporter for The Post covering Florida. He has chronicled a spectrum of big city characters ranging from mobsters to mayors over a 20-year career in journalism. Born and raised in Berkeley, Calif., Selim earned a B.A. in Political Science from his hometown university and later received a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. After freelancing for several years, Selim was hired as a staff reporter at the New York Post in 2005 and currently covers Florida. Prior to that beat, Selim reported on the New York City Department of Education and the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn.
