With this year’s festivities in Detroit coming to a close, oddsmakers are already weighing in on the 2025 NFL Draft class. 

And a big name has already established himself as an early favorite to go No. 1 overall. 

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer and Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, is a heavy favorite to be the first name off the board next April with +100 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. 

After transferring from Jackson State before last season, Sanders enjoyed a breakout season in Boulder, throwing for 3,230 yards with 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions. 

But Colorado finished a disappointing 4-8 after shocking the college football world with a 3-0 start. 

A couple of other college signal-callers form a clear top three on DraftKings’ oddsboard. 

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck both own +300 odds, suggesting that either player could easily leapfrog Sanders with a big season. 

Four more quarterbacks – Penn State’s Drew Allar (+850), Alabama’s Jalen Milroe (+950), Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart (+1200) and Miami’s Cam Ward (+1500) – round out the top seven, before we get to the first defensive player in the conversation, Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams (+1800). 

Sanders’ teammate, the two-way star Travis Hunter, is also a first-overall pick contender, according to oddsmakers. 

Hunter, who played corner and wide receiver for the Buffaloes last season, has the 14th-best odds (+2200) to be selected No. 1. 

No matter how this college football season plays out, it’s looking as if next year’s first-overall pick competition will be much different than the 2024 draft. 

When odds opened this time last year, Caleb Williams was already a massive -550 favorite to be the first pick, which ended up ringing true when the Bears made him their franchise quarterback Thursday.
