The best part of the college basketball calendar is here — the battle for conference supremacy is here.
Conference tournaments have begun, signaling the true tip-off of March Madness, as games will run nearly nonstop for the next three-plus weeks.
Below, we take a lay of the land of what the conference tournaments have in store for us, including the favorites of each conference as the brackets come into focus.
The Power 5 conference tournament begins the week of March 9, though some smaller conferences will crown their champions beginning the week of March 2.
2026 Conference Tournament March Madness bracket
Ohio Valley Conference
Saturday, March 7, 9 p.m. ET
Favorite: Tennessee State (+220, DraftKings)
Tennessee State has given teams fits, with seniors Travis Harper II, Aaron Nkrumah and Dante Harris leading the way. The tournament will be tightly contested with the University of Tennessee Martin (+370), Southeast Missouri State (+400), and Morehead State (+400).
Prediction: Tennessee State (+220)
Big South Conference
Sunday, March 8, noon, ESPN2
Favorite: High Point (-165, DraftKings)
High Point has dominated this league most of the season, going 15-1 in conference. Its major challenger will be the Winthrop Eagles (+300), with no other team below 10/1 to win this conference.
Prediction: High Point (-165)
Missouri Valley Conference
Sunday, March 8, noon, CBS
Favorite: Belmont (+160, BetMGM)
Followed by Northern Iowa (+475), Illinois State (+500), and Bradley (+750), the conference should be highly competitive. The Bruins went 26-5 with a strong 16-4 conference record.
Prediction: Belmont (+160)
Rick Pitino has his eyes on a Big East championship. APASUN Conference
Sunday, March 8, 2 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: Austin Peay (+225, BetMGM)
Central Arkansas (+250) is surely the most tempting bet, considering its incredible conference record. The Bears went 15-3 in the ASUN, a feat matched byAustin Peay.
Prediction: Central Arkansas (+250, DraftKings)
Summit League
Sunday, March 8, 9 p.m., CBS Sports Network
Favorite: St. Thomas-Minnesota (+135, Caesars)
North Dakota State is the top seed in the Summit League, but just below is the favorite, St. Thomas-Minnesota. The Bison went 14-2 in conference play this season, and no other team is below 10/1 odds.
Prediction: St. Thomas-Minnesota (+135, Caesars)
Southern Conference
Monday, March 9, 7 p.m., ESPN Networks
Favorite: East Tennessee State (+190, FanDuel)
The odds for this conference tournament are fascinating. KenPom rates East Tennessee State at 141, while FTN ranks them 146. Furman, Mercer, and Samford are rated between 167-173 on FTN. Of those three, Mercer is rated the highest; they’re the team you should be targeting here.
Prediction: Mercer (+550, Caesars)
Sun Belt Conference
Monday, March 9, 7 p.m., ESPN Networks
Favorite: Troy (+165, Caesars)
The dark horse of this conference is Arkansas State, which has been dealing with some injuries, though it is unclear whether Chudi Dioramma will miss significant time. If he is healthy, Arkansas State is a great bet as they’re rated higher than every team in the conference.
Prediction: Arkansas State (+800, FanDuel)
Horizon League
Tuesday, March 10, 7 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: Wright State (+200, theScore Bet)
Heat check spot here for Green Bay and Doug Gottlieb’s group that is playing red-hot hoops right now. Oakland is an interesting wager as currently constructed, as well, with most ranking systems having them very close to the favorites, Wright State.
Prediction: Green Bay (+1000, FanDuel)
Northeast Conference
Tuesday, March 10, 7 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: Long Island University (-150, DraftKings)
Le Moyne is rated far too high to be sitting at +800 odds according to the national markets. Most other oddsmakers have them closer to +600 and dropping.
Prediction: Le Moyne (+800, Caesars)
Coastal Athletic Association
Tuesday, March 10, 7 p.m., CBS Sports Network
Favorite: Hofstra (+195, DraftKings)
Despite being the three seed in the CAA Tournament, Hofstra should be the team to come out of this conference. They are clearly ranked ahead of the field by a pretty wide margin. Hofstra is a top-100 team via KenPom and they should be able to roll here.
Prediction: Hofstra (+195)
West Coast Conference
Tuesday, March 10, 9 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: Gonzaga (-190, BetMGM)
This conference is sneaky good with a bunch of very strong teams to consider. Santa Clara is one that interests me at +900. Those odds will surely evaporate soon, but Gonzaga is too talented to bail on here.
Prediction: Gonzaga (-190)
Gonzaga’s Mark Few during a recent game against Portland. APMetro Atlantic Athletic Conference
Tuesday, March 10, 7 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: Merrimack (+280, Caesars)
My other pick is Marist (+575, Caesars), but Merrimack is getting quite a bit of love from KenPom to make me rethink my position there. KenPom has Merrimack rated in the 170s, while FTN has Marist as the No. 1-rated MAAC team. It’s an interesting thought experiment for these two ranking systems.
Prediction: Merrimack (+280)
Southland Conference
Wednesday, March 11, 5 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: McNeese (+115, DraftKings)
McNeese is clearly the highest-rated Southland squad and should be able to walk through the conference until the championship game with Stephen F. Austin.
Prediction: McNeese (+115)
Patriot League
Wednesday, March 11, 7 p.m., CBS Sports Network
Favorite: Navy (-180, Fanatics Sportsbook)
Navy is the only team on KenPom that’s rated better than 200, coming in at 136 overall. Some betting sites have Navy as high as -240 so there’s legitimate value on this spot.
Prediction: Navy (-180)
Big Sky Conference
Wednesday, March 11, 11:30 p.m.
Favorite: Montana State (+340, DraftKings)
This conference is wide open, and it could go anywhere. No prediction, for now.
Prediction: Flip a coin
America East Conference
Saturday, March 14, 11 a.m., ESPN2
Favorite: UMBC (-270, DraftKings)
This is your prototypical two-team conference, as Vermont and UMBC are the only two teams below 16/1 to win the AEC. UMBC is ranked higher on KenPom but FTN has Vermont above UMBC by a good margin. These two teams split during the regular season, so I view this conference as a true coin flip.
Prediction: Vermont (+265, DraftKings)
Tom Izzo is the staple of the Michigan State Spartans. APMid-Eastern Athletic Conference
Saturday, March 14, 1 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: Howard (-300, DraftKings)
Howard is a massive favorite here, ranking as the top team in the conference, the only team within the top 200 on KenPom. There’s no value in them at -300, though. If you want a dart throw, Morgan State defeated Howard earlier in the season in January. They followed that up by being smashed by Howard by 25 points last week, so don’t wager the house on it. Take Morgan State and hedge if they get to the title game, albeit at a crazy price, I’m sure.
Prediction: Morgan State (+1000, DraftKings)
Mountain West Conference
Saturday, March 14, 6 p.m., CBS
Favorite: Utah State (+230, DraftKings)
Utah State has had coaches poached left and right the last few seasons but their program remains elite. Headed into the tournament at 25-6, they’re the favorite for a reason. The Mountain West is highly underrated and things will get interesting for the favorite as soon as their first game, where they will face one one strong team after another. Boise State is my pick thanks to its offensive prowess. Boise State shoots 3-pointers 48.6 percent of the time and at a 39.4 percent clip. That’s spicy when a team can bury you with a barrage of baskets from beyond the arch.
Prediction: Boise State (+550)
Big 12 Conference
Saturday, March 14, 6 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: Arizona (+100, DraftKings)
I wrote about this in detail above, but I’m targeting Kansas because they have one of the best defenses in the country and the best player in the nation. Darryn Peterson is capable of carrying the Jayhawks anywhere he wants them to go. Feel free to hedge Kansas if they get to the title game, but they are a good team that can beat anyone on any given night.
Prediction: Kansas (+900, Caesars)

Big East Conference
Saturday, March 14, 6:30 p.m., FOX
Favorite: UConn (-250, BetMGM)
Prediction: UConn (-250)
UConn smashed St. John’s embarrassingly last time out, and it’s hard to pick Rick Pitino’s group right now. Dan Hurley’s squad is rated No. 10 overall for a reason.

Southwestern Athletic Conference
Saturday, March 14, 7:30 p.m., ESPNU
Favorite: Bethune Cookman (+210, FanDuel)
Bethune-Cookman is widely considered the top option across every rankings system in this conference, which is one of the worst in the country. KenPom has Bethune-Cookman rated No. 236, while FTN has them No. 276. Going to ride the favorite here, considering their excellent 14-4 conference record. They’re a favorite worth targeting given their dominance against rivals.
Prediction: Bethune-Cookman

Mid-American Conference
Saturday, March 14, 8 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: Akron (-115, DraftKings)
Miami (Ohio) is +185 to win this conference despite their undefeated record. The Redhawks defeated Akron 76-73 in January, thanks in large part to 25-30 from the free throw line while Akron went 9-10. Hopefully we get Akron vs Miami for the conference title, where we’d expect Akron to be 4-point favorites. Take the favorite for now.
Prediction: Akron
Conference USA
Saturday, March 14, 8:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network
Favorite: Sam Houston State (+215, DraftKings)
Prediction: Liberty (+330, Fanatics)
Liberty is slightly higher ranked than Sam Houston State so that’s a reasonable target here for Conference USA.
Atlantic Coast Conference
Saturday, March 14, 8:30 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: Duke (-350, DraftKings)
Not projecting too many surprises here, as the Blue Devils are the biggest favorite among the major conferences this March. Virginia can’t keep up with Cameron Boozer and the Boys. No upsets here.
Prediction: Duke (-350)

Big West Conference
Saturday, March 14, 10 p.m., ESPN2
Favorite: UC Irvine (+165)
Prediction: Hawaii (+200)
Hawaii is another team I like ranked higher than the favorite. These two have basically been a coin flip in the two games they’ve played, as Hawaii beat UC Irvine by a point and then lost in overtime.
Western Athletic Conference
Saturday, March 14, midnight, ESPN2
Favorite: Utah Valley (+105)
Prediction: Utah Valley
A top 100 team in the country by all stanndards this is a bet on a favorite. It’s really a two-conference matchup as no team besides California Baptist and Utah Valley is below 10/1 to win the Western Athletic Conference.
Todd Golden’s Gators are looking to repeat as national champions. Travis Register-Imagn ImagesIvy League
Sunday, March 15, noon, ESPN2
Favorite: Yale (+110, Caesars)
Prediction: Yale
Yale is 21-5 this year and is ranked higher than an undefeated Miami (Ohio) squad. Anything can happen in this rivalry games, but I got Yale winning this one going away.
Atlantic 10 Conference
Sunday, March 15, 1 p.m., CBS
Favorite: Saint Louis (+160, theScore Bet)
Prediction: VCU (+180, DraftKings)
The Post’s Doug Kezirian has been all over the red-hot George Mason Colonials through a torrid streak where they’ve played well of late. But don’t expect them to run through a gauntlet that includes VCU, Saint Joseph’s, and George Washington.
Southeastern Conference
Sunday, March 15, 1 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: Florida -180
KenPom, Bart Torvik and FTN all have a clear top three in the SEC: Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. I’m taking a contrarian approach. Alabama is a strong bet here. Led by elite guard Labaron Philon Jr., the Crimson Tide play with pace and defensive chops you won’t find in a long shot.
Prediction: Alabama (+850)

American Conference
Sunday, March 15, 3:15 p.m., ESPN
Favorite: South Florida (-120)
The South Florida Bulls need every win to get into the tournament here and they’re a strong team. They play with pace and area good offensive group. KenPom has them as the rare top-65 team in offensive and defensive efficiency, and I expect them mow down their rivals.
Prediction: South Florida (-120)
Big Ten Conference
Sunday, March 15, 3:30 p.m., CBS
Favorite: Michigan (-105, theScore Bet)
Prediction: Michigan
Either the first or second best team in the nation, the Michigan Wolverines are certainly worth trusting here as a favorite. Illinois and Purdue are solid teams that are power ranked higher than their AP ranking but this is still the Wolverines’ conference to lose.
