The NBA season is over, but for true hoop heads, basketball never sleeps.
The WNBA is now the center of the basketball universe on a nightly basis for the rest of the summer, and A’ja Wilson of the Aces is the sun the rest of the league revolves around right now.
The Aces face the Wings on Monday evening in a Commissioner’s Cup game, which means scoring will be important for potential tie-breaking purposes.
Vegas is a 2.5-point favorite on the road and riding a six-game winning streak into the matchup.
Aces vs. Wings prediction, best bet
The four-time WNBA MVP is averaging 26.2 points per game, which would be her second-highest scoring output over a full season if it holds. But what’s more impressive is how she’s doing it this season.
Wilson is shooting 52 percent from the floor, 54 percent from beyond the arc, and 83 percent from the foul line, and her 3-point attempts and free throw attempts are at career highs so far this season.

The Wings don’t defend the paint well, though. They allowed the fourth-most shots (23.3) and fourth-highest field goal percentage (65 percent) in the restricted area.

That’s a matchup problem against the Aces, who are already the best offensive team in the league, averaging 113.4 points per 100.
Drill down a bit deeper and you’ll see that Wilson is one of the most efficient players in the paint this season.
She is shooting 78 percent in the restricted area, which is the second-best mark among the highest volume scorers in that area.
In the Aces’ last six games, Wilson has gone under 25 points just once, a 24-point game against the Lynx on Saturday night. Her points prop is sitting at 25.5 points with the juice on the Under at FanDuel.
I’ll take the Over and expect her to continue her display of brilliance against another Western Conference foe.
The Play: A’ja Wilson Over 25.5 points (-102, FanDuel)
