It has been a disappointing season for the Los Angeles Angels thus far, and they must try to stay relevant for the next 6-8 weeks while Mike Trout is out. They’ll need the pitching to improve to do so, and will turn to Dylan Bundy on Sunday against the Athletics.
Bundy has a 7.08 ERA at home this season. Overall he is giving up 1.5 home runs per nine innings and the team has lost six of his past seven starts.
The Athletics have won seven out of Sean Manaea’s past eight starts despite him allowing at least three runs in three of his past four. He has given up on one run in two of his three road starts. Oakland entered Saturday with a 3.49 road ERA, compared to 4.82 at home, while the Angels are last among all 30 teams in ERA.
The Angels entered Saturday 2-7 Trout this season, and with the team drawing the fewest walks per at-bat in MLB and the Athletics fourth in the league in home runs on a per-at-bat basis, the Angels struggles will continue on Sunday.
The play: Athletics, -111.
