The Oakland A’s-Los Angeles Angels’ battle for bragging rights in California appears to be very lopsided from a starting-pitching perspective.

The A’s send to the mound Mike Fiers, who has had a quality start in 21 of his 22 starts. Since the beginning of May, he has given up just one home run per nine innings and the team is 15-5 in his starts.

The Angels have not been quite as successful when starting pitcher Jaime Barria has taken the hill, losing each of his last five starts. The team is scoring just 2.85 runs in his starts and he has 6.10 ERA and has given up 2.2 home runs per nine innings.

The Oakland bullpen certainly has been in the news recently for not being able to close out games, but in August the A’s had a league-average bullpen while the Angels were 26th in bullpen ERA in that span.

The A’s are unquestionably the favorite in this spot and should be able to not just win but do so by multiple runs.

The Play: A’s on the run line (-1¹/₂ runs).
