Providence and Boston College go at it Tuesday in a battle of Northeast schools with the scripts for these two flipped. After years of mediocrity, Boston College is trending upward, while the Friars look to add a major non-conference win.

Neither of these teams ranks in the Top 100 among Division I teams in offensive efficiency, but each team has a guard that can stuff the stat sheet. Alpha Diallo leads Providence in all three major categories with 17 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Ky Bowman brings 19.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game to the table for Boston College.

Diallo is the larger player at 6-foot-7, which has given opponents issues on offense. Providence has allowed more than 67 points in a game just once since losing to Wichita State on Nov. 9, but this team has not been flashy in its wins. The Friars have one win by 10 or more points, with that being a 12-point win over Iona.

Boston College, meanwhile, has won three of its past four games by 12 points, with those wins coming against Wyoming, Loyola Chicago, and Minnesota. The Eagles have done this by ranking 35th in the country in fewest turnovers per possession, a category that Providence is 212th in. BC also ranks 11th among DI teams in opponent two-point field-goal shooting percentage.

The rebuild for Boston College is coming along well and should take another step forward on Tuesday.

The play: Boston College, -3¹/₂.
