The Blue Jays won’t go away.

It was the team’s M.O. during the regular season, and that identity has carried over into October. The Jays just hang around, waiting for their opportunity to strike.

That character trait is what makes Toronto such an appealing underdog, even against the juggernaut Dodgers.

The Blue Jays are +168 to win Game 5 and have +160 odds to win the World Series at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Game 5 odds, prediction

The starting pitching matchup for Game 5 is a rematch from Game 1.

Blake Snell will toe the rubber for Los Angeles, while rookie Trey Yesavage will go for Toronto.

Snell was tuned up for five runs, eight hits and three walks in five innings in the curtain-raiser, which ended 11-4 in favor of the Jays.

Yesavage put in a decent shift with two earned runs on four hits in four innings. Hard to ask much more out of a player who started the season in Single-A.

Toronto’s lineup had its way with Snell in Game 1, but that outing seems like an outlier.

Betting on Baseball?

The southpaw didn’t have his swing-and-miss stuff, and he paid for it. In his previous six outings, Snell logged a 0.68 ERA and struck out 56 batters across 40 innings.

If you take away the context that Yesavage is a rookie who had pitched 14 innings in the Majors before the playoffs, you’d say his numbers this October are solid, but not spectacular.

He had one dominant outing against the Yankees, but he was up and down in his next three outings, including one dud against the Mariners in the ALCS.

The Dodgers will also be buoyed by the fact that they got a look at Yesavage in Game 1, which is an important note considering how the rookie’s over-the-top delivery seems to bewilder some hitters.

Snell’s most recent outing could be a concern, but the former Cy Young winner was nearly untouchable for his six previous starts.

I’ll bet on that version of Snell showing up, while also putting faith in the Dodgers to make inroads against Yesavage.

The Play: Dodgers -1.5 (+100, FanDuel)
