Our best NFL bets and predictions for the Week 14 game between the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers scheduled to air live Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.

Legendary stuff has been status quo for Tom Brady, and the Bay area kid gets a chance to play at “home” for only the second time in his career this week. He’ll run into the top-ranked defense in the NFL without right tackle Tristan Wirfs and during a stretch of poor play from left tackle Donovan Smith. The 49ers have won five in a row but are moving to a third starting quarterback — Brock Purdy — after losing Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) to a potentially season-ending injury.

San Francisco has a five-game winning streak and at 8-4 would sit ahead of the Buccaneers (6-6) in the playoff pecking order if the season ended today. A victory Sunday also sets up the Niners with the tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed in the wild-card round.

Tom Brady delivered a game-winning drive over the Saints on Monday but the Bucs have some cause of concern. Right tackle Tristan Wirfs is out and left tackle Donovan Smith has been a weak link of late just in time to run into NFL sacks leader Nick Bosa. Bosa had three sacks and a forced fumble last week.

Brady in a spotlight game where he grew up seems to point to a strong showing, but there’s more to it when predicting a high passing yardage total for TB12. He had four TD passes, then with the Patriots, in his previous game at San Francisco.

This season, the Buccaneers have eight games in which they produced less than 3.1 yards per carry on the ground and the 49ers’ run defense is lights out.

That means short, quick, high-percentage passing and the occasional deep ball from Brady. The 49ers are willing to let Brady try to move the chains with 5- and 7-yard completions, and the wily veteran doesn’t mind taking it.

This could be a spot for Julio Jones to deliver a big game. Mr. Consistent has been Chris Godwin — all but a guarantee for six catches this season, including 10 games in a row — but Jones appears to be getting healthy and acclimated. He has two games with 10 receptions or more and at least 130 receiving yards against the 49ers in his career.

Brock Purdy was intercepted last week but he also tossed a pair of touchdown passes and the 49ers kept their winning streak going without Jimmy G, who attempted only four passes before a foot injury put him on the shelf for weeks to months.

Now the game is in the hands of Purdy and his offensive line. The Bucs present a big test in that regard and with the pair of heat-seeking linebackers in the front seven — Devin White and Lavonte David — the 49ers know they won’t be able to rely on quick slants or tight end curl routes for four quarters.

McCaffrey knows his way around this defense. The active leader in yards from scrimmage 112.3 yards per game, he also had eight receptions last week and will be the security blanket Purdy needs.

Even when he was riding solo as the Panthers’ lone playmaker, McCaffrey produced against the Buccaneers. He has 7 TDs (five rush, two receptions) in the last five games he played against Tampa Bay, with two consecutive games scoring two TDs in this matchup.
