Cleveland State already has clinched its most victories (14-2 in conference play) since joining the Horizon League in 2000, and the Vikings will look to continue their winning ways on Friday when they play host to the Detroit Mercy Titans.

Coach Dennis Gates’ Vikings, who have covered the spread in their past four games and are 13-5-1 ATS this season, are not a team that will jump off the stat sheet in any particular category. But they have locked down the perimeter on defense, ranking 17th in the nation in opponents’ 3-point shooting percentage.

They have the task of shutting down a Detroit team that ranks 19th in 3-point shooting percentage at 38.3 percent, but is just 315th in guarding the arc as the Titans are allowing opponents to make 38 percent of their 3-pointers.

Detroit is making 85.2 percent of its free throws in true road games, which leads the nation. But the Titans fail to get to the line often, ranking 322nd in free throw attempts per possession.

The Titans enter Friday having allowed at least 72 points in five of their past six games and rank 293rd in the nation in points per possession allowed. With Cleveland State having scored at least 73 points in each of its past five games, the Vikings’ historic success should continue on Friday.

The play: Cleveland State,-3.5.
