While the 2020 season was one to forget for Oakland Athletics starter Frankie Montas with a 3-5 record with a 5.60 ERA, he was still superb at home and will look to start the 2021 season strong against reigning World Series champion Los Angles Dodgers.

Montas had to deal with back injuries during the 2020 season but overcame them to post a 2.36 ERA in five starts in Oakland with just one home run surrendered in 26 ²/₃ innings while getting 31 strikeouts.

The Dodgers will look to their youngest starter Dustin May to build off a solid 2020 season where he had a 2.77 ERA on the road while issuing just 2.07 walks per nine innings in his six regular-season appearances away from Dodger Stadium.

Oakland’s offense got off to a slow start with seven runs in their first three games and while the Dodgers find themselves toward the top of most offensive categories and will have to try to adjust from starting the season at altitude to play the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

With Montas’ back in good shape entering the season and May looking to ascend in the hierarchy of top MLB pitchers, runs figure to be hard to come by on Monday.
