Eagles vs. Saints predictions and analysis
A win for the Eagles (13-2) clinches their first NFC East title since 2019 with a win or tie — note they can wrap up that championship even earlier if the Dallas Cowboys either lose or tie the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night.
Also, Philadelphia can clinch the NFC’s No. 1 seed and the conference’s lone first-round bye with a win or a tie and a Minnesota Vikings loss or tie to the Green Bay Packers. In addition, the Eagles can secure the top spot with a Cowboys loss or tie, a Vikings loss and a San Francisco 49ers loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Gardner Minshew Getty ImagesEagles cover -5.5 points
Minshew fared reasonably well against the Cowboys, throwing for 355 yards with three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and two interceptions. Minchew appeared to have instant chemistry with wideouts DeVonta Smith (eight catches, 113 yards, two TDs) and A.J. Brown (six receptions, 103 yards).
While Brown didn’t find the end zone last week, he has done so on seven occasions at home this season. Smith, in turn, is heating up with three 100-plus-yard receiving efforts and four touchdowns in his last four games.
New Orleans likely is out of its element in this game, and we’re not talking about a dome team playing outside.

Miles Sanders to score a touchdown
While Sanders has been kept out of the end zone in each of the last two games, the Saints’ defense has been rather generous when it comes to the ground game. New Orleans has surrendered an NFL 23rd-ranked 132.0 yards rushing on the season — and an average of 143 over the last three contests.
Sanders, in turn, has a career-high 11 rushing touchdowns this season — with seven coming at home.
Of note, Sanders (knee) was one of four Eagles that did not participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough. The absence could be maintenance-related as a means to keep his body fresh for Sunday’s game.

While Philadelphia has plenty of offensive weapons at its disposal, don’t sleep on New Orleans. Sure, the Saints will be fighting an uphill battle on Sunday, however they sport the NFL’s 15th-ranked passing offense.
New Orleans features promising rookie Chris Olave, running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Juwan Johnson in its passing game. Olave leads the team in catches (63) and receiving yards (940), Kamara ranks second (55, 480) and Johnson has a club-best seven receiving touchdowns — including five in his past six games.
Of note: Olave (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday’s practice after sitting out New Orleans’ 17-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns last week, while Kamara (quadriceps/personal) did not participate in Wednesday’s session.
