Many thought a team from California would be leading the NL West 100 games into the season, few thought that team would be the San Francisco Giants, who will look to widen their division lead at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
Giants starter Johnny Cueto has done his best work at home, with five of his six wins coming in San Francisco while posting a 3.42 ERA with 1.2 walks allowed per nine innings. He has allowed opponents to hit .246 off of him at home compared to .321 on the road.
Though David Price has made five All-Star teams as a starting pitcher, he began the season in the bullpen and is being stretched out due to necessity with the Dodgers injuries and Trevor Bauer’s leave of absence. Of the 26 pitching appearances Price has made this season, 20 have been as a reliever. While his 2.84 ERA as a starter is lower than his 3.80 ERA out of the bullpen, his 5²/₃-inning start against the Colorado Rockies in which he give two home runs and three runs total was his first start of more than four innings since 2019.

Since Cueto’s arrival in 2016, the Giants are 9-6 in his starts against the Dodgers. And with Los Angeles entering Wednesday a combined 3-10 in its past 13 games against San Diego and San Francisco, the Giants will improve their current league-best win percentage.
THE PLAY: Giants, +115.
