The Jets and Giants play their annual preseason game Sunday afternoon.

Gang Green opened up close to a touchdown favorite, but as of Saturday that number had dipped to 4.5 at BetMGM.

The Jets’ starters could play the entire first half. Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been more tight-lipped about his starters’ playing time, but they should play at least a quarter.

The thing I’m watching in this game is how the teams use their quarterbacks. If Giants starter Daniel Jones struggles early this season, Daboll will likely have a quick hook and go to backup Tyrod Taylor. For that reason, Daboll might not want to risk the veteran Taylor getting injured in a meaningless preseason game.

Even if Jones and Taylor don’t play much, the Jets are in a similar boat with Joe Flacco. With Zach Wilson already injured, I find it hard to believe the 37-year-old Flacco will play an entire half of a preseason game. It feels like an unnecessary risk for a guy the Jets may need to depend on early in the season.

Betting on the NFL?

Bottom Line: This game will be a battle of the backups in the second half, with Mike White and Davis Webb at quarterback. These two teams typically play close games in the preseason. I think that trend continues, so I’ll grab the G-men getting over a field goal.

The play: Giants +4.5
