Brian Daboll and Lovie Smith were both tasked with taking over a struggling team and putting the pieces together that would yield success. Ten weeks into the season, Daboll is cruising, while Smith doesn’t appear to have located the corner pieces to that puzzle just quite yet.
Smith has coached his Texans to a disappointing 1-6-1 record, while Daboll has allowed New York to stay in contention in the NFC East — even with an undefeated team in the division. However, records will only mean so much come Sunday for two teams just trying to take things one week at a time.
Under 40.5 total points
Don’t let the Giants’ 6-2 record fool you.
New York hasn’t been reliant on its offense for its success by any means. After all, the Giants are averaging just 20.4 points per game. However, on the other sideline, that’s a mark that would certainly suffice.
The Texans average 16.6 points, and that’s a number that’s been dropping over the past four weeks. Houston hasn’t been able to score more than 20 points since Oct. 2 and now must go up against a stout New York defense that allows its fewest points per contest (19.6) since 2016.
With the under hitting in six of the Giants’ eight games this season, the Texans just don’t have the offensive firepower to threaten such a strong trend.

Texans to cover first half +3
If there’s been one critique for this New York team, it’s that it hasn’t been getting off to fast enough starts.
The Giants have been outscored through the first 30 minutes of action in three of their last four games and have carried a lead of at least three points into the break just once this season — back in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears.
Perhaps the even crazier stat is that Houston has entered the intermission tied with its opponent in three of its last four games.
Banking on the Texans to be efficient late in games gets awfully risky, but they’ve proven that they can hang with teams early, making this pick a quality one.

Dameon Pierce over 76.5 rushing yards
Pierce is banged up but expected to play. He has been one of the few bright spots of an otherwise dismal Houston offense here in his rookie season.
He’s rushed for at least 80 yards in five of his last six games and is now licking his chops ahead of a meeting with a defense that allows an average of 137.3 yards on the ground.
Smith also said that since good things are happening when Pierce has the ball, the team needs to get it in his hands more.
Those comments came following a game in which Pierce carried the ball 27 times, so the fact that the coaching staff is still vying to get him more involved means the sky is the limit. Does that mean 30 touches? 40? Time will tell, but the rookie could be in for a career game this weekend.
