Horizon League Tournament: The Analysis
The first round of matches took place earlier on in the week, which saw Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Green Bay and IUPUI all exit the tournament.

Cleveland State is this year’s number one seed, but two late regular season losses for the Vikings saw the Horizon League title shared. Both Cleveland State and Purdue Fort Wayne finished with a conference record of 15-6 and shared the title of regular-season champions.
The Vikings are loaded with experience as each of their top-six rotational players are seniors. Five of the six were members of last year’s squad that earned a March Madness appearance, and the team boasts statistically the best offense in the conference.
Perhaps the underrated team coming into the tournament is Northern Kentucky. In their last 14 games, the Norse won 12 of them, and have won three of the past five Horizon League Tournaments.

Horizon League Tournament History
Through 2002, the entire tournament was hosted at a single venue. From 2003 through 2015, all first-round matches were played at the home court of the higher-seeded team involved.
Hosting rights for the quarterfinals and semifinals were awarded to the winner of the regular season championship.
The championship game was played at the home arena of the higher remaining seed. This format rewarded the regular-season champion and runner-up with a double-bye into the semifinals.
The regular-season champion received the added benefit of home-court advantage in the semifinals, plus a home-court final if it won its semifinal.
For the past two years, and for this year’s tournament, the games will take place at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Detroit has the best record in the tournament of current Horizon League Members, with three tournament championships.
Remarkably, Detroit has gone 31-35 in its tournament history, proving their wins came at a cost.
Last year’s championship game saw Cleveland State run out as 11 point winners over Oakland, their first win since 2009.
