We’re just over two weeks into this NBA season, and we’ve already seen enough drama and action to fill an entire year.
Of course, much of that centers around the Nets, who are the epitome of dysfunction just eight games into the season. But it also includes the shocking fall by the defending champion Warriors, who lost once again on Thursday night and enter Friday as reeling road underdogs against one of the best up-and-coming teams in the league.
Here’s how we’re betting Friday’s action, including another fade-worthy spot for those Nets and Warriors:

Wizards vs. Nets prediction (7:00 p.m. ET)
How could anyone in their right mind bet the Nets after what we’ve seen transpire over the last few days, let alone the entire season?
Brooklyn is in a state of emergency after parting ways with coach Steve Nash just seven games into the year, following one of the most disastrous offseasons in NBA history. You can see the effects on the court: the Nets enter Friday ranked 28th in net rating (-6.7) with the league’s worst defensive rating (118.3) and rebounding rate (45.6%).
Now they’ll have to contend with the loss of Kyrie Irving (suspension), leaving Brooklyn with just one active player averaging 12 or more points in Friday’s tilt with the Wizards. If Kevin Durant thought defenses were swarming him before, he hasn’t seen anything yet.

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant Corey Sipkin Pelicans vs. Warriors prediction (8:30 p.m. ET)
I was high on the Pelicans entering the year as a potential surprise contender in the West, especially if Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram took a step forward in their star trajectories.
Sure enough, those two are combining for 44.8 points per game with each shooting better than 50% from the floor, spearheading the sixth-most efficient offense in the NBA. New Orleans ranks sixth in net rating (+5.1), too, having already scored outright wins over the Nets, Mavericks, and Clippers.
Now this group will get a shot at the struggling Warriors, who have dropped four straight – with three coming against arguably the worst teams in the East – despite Stephen Curry’s best efforts. He’ll need a monster game to overcome the balanced attack for the resurgent Pels.

Timberwolves vs. Bucks prediction (10:00 p.m. ET)
The ceiling of this Timberwolves team remains high after springing for one of the biggest blockbuster trades in recent memory. But the reality is that this team isn’t working right now, and it’s hard to see the immediate solution.
Minnesota’s spacing issues have been a mess with Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert sharing the floor, a key reason why this team ranks 25th in 3-point percentage (32.6%) and 23rd in offensive rating (109.9). The Timberwolves have been better on defense, but they’re no match for Milwaukee’s top-ranked defense, which is surrendering just 101.3 points per 100 possessions.
The Bucks have the size to thwart Minnesota’s unconventional approach and the skill and spacing to take advantage on the other side. No team has been able to beat Milwaukee to this point, and I don’t expect the disjointed T-Wolves to be the first.
