The ACC-Big Ten Challenge tips off on Tuesday, and the North Carolina Tar Heels got the draw of trying to slow down Luka Garza and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Garza leads the country in points per game with 34 while making 76 percent of field goals and 62.5 percent of his 3-point shots and chipping in 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in 26 minutes per game. The team, meanwhile, has notched at least 97 points in each of its first three games this season.

Iowa is second in the country in points per possession, but the 12.7 offensive rebounds per game they are allowing on defense, which is 20th-worst in the country, may not bode well against a North Carolina bunch that has been in the top 20 in rebound rate each of the past six seasons.

North Carolina’s 49 rebounds per game against Division-I competition is fifth in college basketball, and it ranks third in offensive rebounds per game, which should help offset poor outside shooting.

The four made 3-point shots per game North Carolina is pouring in is the 16th-fewest among D-I teams with a backcourt that has a lot of younger pieces and are shooting 27.1 percent from 3-point range.

With Iowa playing Southern, NC Central, and Western Illinois to begin the season while North Carolina played in the Maui Invitational, the Tar Heels are more equipped to play end-to-end competitions and should give Iowa a dose of what playing a talented team is like.

The Pick: North Carolina, +4
