Our NFL betting writer is here with best betting picks and predictions for the Sunday game between the New York Jets and New England Patriots, scheduled to air on CBS at 1 p.m. ET.

The New England Patriots are carrying a 12-game winning streak against the Jets into East Rutherford, N.J., this weekend, but that could come to a screeching halt against a New York team that has yet to drop a game this season with Zach Wilson under center.

Patriots vs. Jets picks and analysis

For years, the Jets were the laughingstock of the AFC East. New England sat perched atop the standings looking down at its inferior rival without a worry in the world. It seemed like there could never come a day when the Patriots would find themselves in New York’s situation. Well, they should have never said never.

While the Jets have won four straight games and are off to their best start since 2010, New England is in a state of disarray. The starting quarterback situation has become murky; it’s coming off a humiliating 33-14 loss to the Bears and, like New York once did, sits in the division’s basement.

Jets ML +118

The last time New York was riding a four-game winning streak, Ryan Fitzpatrick was starting at quarterback, Brandon Marshall was the team’s leading receiver and Chris Ivory was the No. 1 option in the backfield.

So, yeah — it’s been a while since the Jets were streaking in the right direction.

But now they’re playing some of their best football in years, and there’s no reason to believe that ends on Sunday. New England relies on its rushing attack to kickstart its offense, and New York has allowed the 11th-fewest rushing yards per game (105.3), which should force the Patriots to put the ball in Mac Jones’ (or Bailey Zappe’s?) hands more often.

Once that happens, the Jets’ secondary should give New England absolute fits to help New York coast to that fifth straight victory.

Pick: Jets to win outright @ +118 with Caesars Sportsbook

Betting on the NFL?

Patriots score under 2.5 touchdowns -135

One of the many things that has hampered New England’s offense is its inability to cap drives with touchdowns.

The Patriots rank 26th in the NFL in red zone scoring percentage (TDs only), finding the end zone 47.6 percent of the time once inside the 20. While New England has had a few plays go for chunk yardage, it typically likes to drive the ball downfield methodically, using an average of 30:13 of game clock.

It’s also been a struggle to even get into the red zone at times, as the Patriots have the second-most giveaways in the league (15).

After Monday’s performance against the Bears, there’s really nothing to indicate that New England has the ability to hang three touchdowns in its current state.

Pick: Patriots to score fewer than 2.5 touchdowns @ -135 with Caesars Sportsbook

Jakobi Meyers over 48.5 receiving yards

If there’s been anything positive about New England’s passing game this season, it’s the development of Meyers.

Meyers has gotten 16.8 percent of targets (33 of 196) through the Patriots’ five seven games despite only playing in five of them. He’s racked up at least 55 yards in four of those five contests, and fellow receivers Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne were limited in practice this week with injuries.

Assuming New England will be playing from behind for a good portion of this game, Meyers will become the go-to guy to help chip away at the deficit. He has the potential to eclipse 100 yards any given week, making this a high-value pick.

Pick: Jakobi Meyers to record over 48.5 receiving yards @ -135 with Caesars Sportsbook
