The Players Championship, featuring one of the golf world’s most recognizable holes, the Par 3 17th at TPC Sawgrass, is kindly referred to as golf’s fifth major. And after 12 seasons in May, The Players moves back to its original slot on the calendar in March.

Course form and current form may not be any more irrelevant for any other event. The list of past Players champions is not necessarily star-studded, but rather is littered with a random array of stars, tour journeymen and even some one-hit wonders. Here are some players worth a wager this week:

The plays

Sergio Garcia (30/1): This will be El Nino’s 20th time playing the Players Championship, and he’s missed the cut only twice. He has played the event in both its March and May slots, so he has that experience as well. Garcia has six top-10 finishes here, including a win in 2008 and has recorded consecutive top-10 finishes in his last two starts this season.

Patrick Cantlay (40/1): He has played here only in the last two seasons, so the switch to March will be new. But in those two starts, he’s finished 23rd and 22nd. He ranks seventh on tour in strokes gained: tee to green, eighth in scrambling and first in par-4 scoring.

Lucas Glover (60/1): You can’t ignore how the Clemson Tiger has been playing, with finishes dating back to October as follows; 17-14-7-11-12-Cut-7-4-10. He leads the tour in scrambling, is sixth in par-4 scoring and 16th in strokes gained: tee to green. Glover finished third in 2010 and sixth in 2017 here.

Jim Furyk (Field, 19/5): Furyk makes his home in Ponte Vedra Beach and will be playing this event for the 21st time. He has missed the cut only four times and has finished top 5 four times. Furyk is on the board at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas at 125/1.
