The Texas Rangers have not had a lot of things go right this season, but Kolby Allard has been a pleasant surprise, and he’ll look to deliver a gem against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.

Allard began the year in the bullpen, making 10 relief appearances before being moved to the rotation. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his five starts and walked only four batters.

Oakland’s Chris Bassitt has allowed two runs or fewer in 12 of his last 14 starts and has a career-best 3.9 strikeout-to-walk rate with 7.2 hits per nine innings. Throughout his career, Bassitt has performed better at home than on the road with a 2.68 home ERA with 0.5 home runs per nine innings allowed (4.38 ERA and 1.3 on the road).

With the Rangers entering this series having scored four runs or fewer in nine of their last 11 road games and the Athletics having the AL’s third-best ERA in June, runs will be hard to come by.

The play: Rangers-A’s total, Under 8 runs.
