The Atlanta Braves enter Wednesday’s clash with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park the MLB leader in home runs per game, and they will look to keep the long hits coming against a starting pitcher they are familiar with in Nick Pivetta.

In 15 career appearances against the Braves, Pivetta has a solid 5-2 record, but that comes with a 4.74 ERA and 7.4 strikeouts and 1.3 home runs allowed per nine innings. This season, Pivetta is walking 4.5 walks batters per nine innings.

Braves starter Drew Smyly has given up three runs or fewer in each of his past three starts, but is tied for the NL lead in home runs allowed with 11 in just 37 innings. The Braves’ bullpen ranks 24th in the MLB in ERA and would face a Red Sox lineup that entered this series ranked second in runs per game with 5.19 was hitting .277 at home.

With the Red Sox team ERA higher at home and the Braves having scored at least four runs in nine of their last 11 games entering this series, there should be no shortage of scoring in Kenmore Square.

The play: Braves-Red Sox total, Over 9.5 runs.
