After more than a full week off for each team, Richmond and Wofford will take records of 2-0 onto the court when they meet Monday afternoon in Richmond.
Wofford’s offense is run by senior guard Storm Murphy, who has shot better than 42 percent from 3-point range each of the past two seasons and has improved his scoring in every season, averaging 17.5 points per game this season.
Richmond has faced better competition to this point, highlighted by a win over Kentucky, while the Terriers have defeated a pair of non-Division I teams (Toccoa Falls College and Carver College). Though playing against a lower level of competition, Wofford is allowing the fewest offensive rebounds in the country. The Terriers have out-rebounded their opponents 101 to 34 in two games, giving up just three offensive rebounds.
The Spiders, meanwhile, are averaging 8.5 rebounds per game fewer than their foes and shooting 61.5 percent from the free-throw line, but have used a defense that is generating a turnover on 26.3 percent of their opponents’ possessions to have success.
The veteran backcourt of Wofford, which two seasons ago won a game against Seton Hall in the NCAA Tournament, should keep things tight against a Richmond bunch that did not allow Kentucky to make a single 3-point shot in their victory.
THE PLAY: Wofford, .
