The Colorado Rockies got off to a tough 3–12 start to 2019, but enter their series with the Brewers having won 10 of their last 13 and have a favorable pitching matchup Tuesday.

Jhoulys Chacin is part of a Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff that has struggled all year. A lot of the young starters have not developed the way the team had hoped, and the veteran has gone more than 5¹/₃ innings in a start just once this season.

With Chacin giving up 2.2 home runs and 4.8 walks per nine innings, and the bullpen ERA ranking 22nd in the majors, it gives the Rockies a tremendous advantage with German Marquez pitching. Five of Marquez’s six starts have been quality starts, and he has surrendered less than a home run per nine innings. His 2.54 ERA compared to Chacin’s 6.35 is a mismatch and he is backed up by a bullpen that is fifth in the MLB in ERA.

Offensively, Christian Yelich has played like an MVP candidate, but the Brewers’ lineup is incredibly uneven. Jesus Aguilar, Travis Shaw, Manny Pina, and Ryan Braun all entered this series hitting below .200. The Rockies have scored four or more runs in 12 of the last 13 games and have a clear pitching advantage over the team that knocked them out of the postseason in 2018.

The Play: Rockies, -108.
