The Thursday college basketball slate does not have a ton of sizzle on the board, but there is money to be made with games still being posted, and Samford has been a cash cow this season.
The Bulldogs are 10-0 against the spread this season with a Morehead State team that is 1-3 in its last four against the spread in town. The only reason Morehead State got that one cover is, in its game prior against Marshall, the Eagles trimmed a 21-point deficit with 1:45 left to play to 12 to cover the closing number of +12¹/₂.
Samford is not overly flashy and does not jump off the page with its advanced numbers, ranking 112th in offensive efficiency and 55th in defensive efficiency. But what this team does a superb job of is not allowing easy two-point baskets, as their two-point field-goal shooting defensive percentage is 13th in the country. With Morehead State entering this game having had 5.2 shots per game blocked on offense and having more turnovers than assists, it will make it difficult for the challengers from the Ohio Valley Conference to snap this cover streak.
Samford opened up a six-point hone favorite against Morehead State, which shows that the books still are behind the curve on giving this scrappy squad respect.
THE PLAY: Samford, -7.
