While much of the SEC has gone up-tempo, Tennessee and Texas A&M have been mold breakers, and will both put their defenses on display Saturday in College Station, Texas.

Both teams allowed a season-high in their most recent games, with Texas A&M giving up 78 points to South Carolina and Tennessee yielding 74 to Arkansas. Despite that, both teams are still in the top 25 percent in the nation in points allowed on a per-possession basis, with Tennessee ranking No. 2 in this category.

In addition, both teams rank in the bottom 100 in possessions per game. Tennessee has allowed 68 points or fewer in seven of nine games played and Texas A&M has done so in six of nine.

Texas A&M figures to have a difficult time making outside shots as it enters ranked 285th in the country in 3-point shooting percentage (29.2 percent. Tennessee is allowing opponents to make 30.8 percent of their 3-pointers, good for 77th in the nation.

Tennessee blocks 10.6 percent of the shots its opponents take, the second-highest rate in the country, and both teams rank in the top 15 in the nation in turnovers forced on a per-possession basis on defense, so Saturday’s clash doesn’t figure to feature a lot of offense.

The play: Texas A&M-Tennessee total, Under 129.5.
