West Virginia entered the college basketball season with one of the best low-post duos in the country, but that combo has been split up and Oklahoma State will look to take full advantage on Monday.

On Saturday, West Virginia announced sophomore forward Oscar Tshiebwe left the program for personal reasons and will not return. Though Tsheibwe’s averages of 8.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game were down from those of his freshman season, the Mountaineers did not look the same in their first game without him, a 75-71 road loss to Oklahoma in which they were out-rebounded 41-36.

Additionally, West Virginia’s offense had been fueled by offensive rebounds. Tsheibwe was leading the team with 3.8 offensive boards per game.

Oklahoma State lacks anyone who can match up with West Virginia’s other big man Derek Culver, who is averaging nearly a double-double this season, but the Cowboys have the man many expect to be the top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft: Cade Cunningham.

With Cunningham leading the way for the Cowboys with 18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game for a team that has four of their top-five scorers making over 36 percent of their 3-point shots, they should take care of a short-handed defense that is outside the Division I top 100 in points allowed on a per-possession basis.

The Play: Oklahoma State, +2.
