If you bet $100 on every starting pitcher this season, the one that has netted you the most profit is Lucas Giolito of the White Sox. He will be back on the mound Monday and is once again an underdog.

Giolito went from a pitcher with a 10-13 record last year with a 6.13 ERA to a Cy Young candidate with a 10-2 mark and a 2.74 ERA. The difference from 2018 is his command, as he led the league in walks last season and has issued 2.6 walks per nine innings since the start of May, more than two walks per nine innings fewer than last year.

The opposing Red Sox send to the hill Eduardo Rodriguez, who does not have the numbers you might expect from a pitcher with an 8-4 record. His ERA is 4.71 and he has given up 1.4 home runs per nine innings. He has given up four runs or more in four of his past seven starts, with the team going 5-2 in those games thanks to an average of 8.3 runs per game in support of him.

Giolito has given up no more than three earned runs in 10 of his past 11 starts, and the White Sox have a bullpen ERA in the top half of the league, two factors which should dampen the Red Sox offense.
