Both the White Sox and the Royals are looking to get to the top of the AL Central, and the Royals will look to offseason acquisition Mike Minor to get a win on Sunday.

Minor had a rough start to begin the 2021 season, giving up four runs in six innings against the Rangers, but he has shown the ability to be reliable — he made the 2019 American League All-Star team and has a 3.13 strikeout to walk rate.

White Sox starter Dylan Cease’s numbers since the start of the 2020 season are not bad on the surface — a 5-4 record with a 4.14 ERA — but he’s fortunate to have this stat line. He went a combined 63 innings in his 14 starts in this span, giving up 1.9 home runs and 5.3 walks per nine innings while getting just 6.7 strikeouts per nine innings.

Both offenses entered the weekend in the top five in the American League in runs per game, with the White Sox registering six runs per game and the Royals 5.5 runs per game, but the White Sox bullpen has a 5.33 ERA to Kansas City’s 3.33.

With Cease’s numbers pointing to regress and Minor being backed up by a bullpen that has been reliable when called upon, the Royals’ quest to get back to the postseason should take another step with a win on Sunday.

The play: Royals Moneyline, +125
