After the wild ride of the condensed major championship season, the players must regroup quickly for the FedEx St. Jude in Memphis, the third of the four annual World Golf Championship events. Notable no-shows include Open champion Shane Lowry, Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods, but there’s still a strong field filled with big names. Here are three longer shots with a chance to win at TPC Southwind.
The plays
Xander Schauffele (20/1): Schauffele was found to be playing with an illegal driver at the Open. We almost never hear a player’s name being released and Schauffele was very upset his privacy was not maintained by The R&A. I think he may be playing with a little bit of fire under his collar this week.
Justin Thomas (16/1): The wrist injury is clearly behind him and his game looks to be coming back around.
Hideki Matsuyama (30/1): He missed the cut at Royal Portrush, and a couple extra days off could be beneficial with the long trip to Memphis.
