The Aaron Judge-less, New York Yankees are officially in last place in the American League East.

Congratulations to all involved!

After dropping two of three to the Rockies at Coors Field, the Yanks will now play three against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.

I’m unsure if the Yankees have the horses to win this series – maybe they can spend their week convincing a certain generational player and future free agent to play in the Bronx.

But I’m pretty sure this game will be high scoring. I’m willing to bank on that analysis.

Angels vs. Yankees prediction

Probable pitchers: Luis Severino (RHP) vs. Griffin Canning (RHP)

(9:38 p.m. ET, YES)

Talk about a rough pitching matchup.

New York’s Luis Severino is lost. His fastball velocity and location are wildly inconsistent, and his secondaries aren’t forcing whiffs.

He’s tinkering with his approach, but nothing is working – he’s allowed 19 hits and 14 earned runs over his past two outings.

Anaheim’s Griffin Canning has been moderately better. At the minimum, Canning is a league-average arm.

But the righty struggles with the long ball, allowing 29 dingers over his past 27 starts.

He’s also not in great form, having allowed nine earned over his past two starts.

So, I’ll be looking to fade these two underwhelming pitchers and hammer the Over 9 runs (-110) available at BetMGM Sportsbook.

These two pitchers are allergic to run prevention, so we might as well bet on that.

Adding to the expected high-scoring game script is a hard-hitting Angels offense – the Halos are still a top-six offense without Mike Trout, per wRC+ – and a horrendous Angels bullpen.

Shohei Ohtani and Co. love to score and allow runs. Five straight games involving the Angles have gone over the listed total.

Even when factoring in the Yankees’ brutal lineup and a solid bullpen, there are too many avenues for runs considering the whole matchup.
