The Texas Rangers have scored the fewest runs in MLB since the All-Star break, but entered their series against the New York Yankees having scored at least four runs in five of their last six road games and will look to hit Jordan Montgomery hard on Tuesday.
Montgomery enters having surrendered at least three runs in seven of his last 10 starts at Yankee Stadium, posting a 3.60 ERA while being backed up by a bullpen allowing 1.7 nearly home runs per nine innings in the last 30 days leading up to this series. That ranks 26th in the league in that span.
The Rangers’ Dane Dunning will make his first start since Aug. 20. In his 10 road starts this season, has a 6.80 ERA with 3.8 walks and 1.5 home runs per nine innings compared to a 2.67 ERA and four home runs allowed in 64 innings in Arlington.
