Since returning from the New York Yankees’ alternate site in April, pitcher Domingo German has been lights out, and he’ll look to continue his resurgence against the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

German gave up seven runs in seven innings in his first two starts prior to being demoted. He was recalled on April 22 and the Yankees have won all five of his starts, four by multiple runs, with German posting a 2.37 ERA and 1.8 walks per nine innings issued.

He will be dueling against Dane Dunning, who has been going in the other direction as the Rangers have lost five of his past six starts. He has allowed at least three runs in four of his last five starts after posting a 0.60 ERA in his first three.

Much of Dunning’s struggles have come away from Arlington. Both of his wins have come at home and he has posted a 3.00 ERA and a 6.75 strikeout-to-walk rate. He also is going more than an inning longer per start than on the road, where his ERA balloons to 6.06 and his strikeout-to-walk rate sinks to 1.67.

With the Yankees ranking third in the majors in bullpen ERA, Dunning giving up just one home run in 21 innings in Arlington this season, and both teams in the bottom half of the MLB in runs per game, there figures to be a small amount of runs in a state where usually things are bigger.

The play: Yankees-Rangers total, Under 8.5 runs.
