Giolito (9-1) has more complete games, two, than losses thus far with a 2.28 ERA. Considering his ERA was 6.13 last season, it is a remarkable turnaround and it all begins with his command. Last season, Giolito was averaging 4.7 walks per nine innings. That number this year is 2.6.

He also has done a much better job than his counterpart Friday of keeping the ball in the park, allowing 0.48 home runs per nine innings. The Yankees will throw CC Sabathia, who is giving up 2.4 home runs per nine innings.
