If you had placed a $100 bet on every starting pitcher in every start they have made this season, Lucas Giolito would enter Friday as the most profitable pitcher in the majors. According to OddsShark, you’d be up $955 this season — and he has found his way into the early Cy Young discussion.

Giolito (9-1) has more complete games, two, than losses thus far with a 2.28 ERA. Considering his ERA was 6.13 last season, it is a remarkable turnaround and it all begins with his command. Last season, Giolito was averaging 4.7 walks per nine innings. That number this year is 2.6.

He also has done a much better job than his counterpart Friday of keeping the ball in the park, allowing 0.48 home runs per nine innings. The Yankees will throw CC Sabathia, who is giving up 2.4 home runs per nine innings. Sabathia may have the more decorated career, but Giolito is the hottest pitcher in the AL and has all the goods to carry the White Sox to victory.

The play: White Sox, -112.
