More new production vehicles and concepts than ever before will be unveiled at the 2011 New York International Auto Show, which begins Friday.

You can check out the next car you want to buy, or compare several in the same place. Maybe you can just dream about being behind the wheel of some of the exotic machinery.

Reflecting the growing interest in fuel efficiency and alternate fuels, there will also be electric and hybrid vehicles, hydrogen cars, compacts and clean, frugal diesels.

Out front, Jeep will be taking visitors for thrilling rides in Grand Cherokees and Wrangler Unlimited models up and down the challenging Camp Jeep track including the 18-foot-high Jeep Mountain.

Or, if you yearn for the elegance of days gone by, when the price of gas didn’t make it into polite conversation, drop in on the LeMay exhibit at the show. LeMay, America’s Car Museum, is set for a May 19, 2012 opening in Tacoma, WA. They will be bringing some classic and vintage micro-cars to the show’s level one.

With more than 25 tiny wonders, LeMay’s exhibit highlights some innovative automobile engineering solutions from the past as well as some unique styling.
