CHIP Caray, the chief baseball announcer for TBS, is leaving the network, officials said yesterday.

Caray, grandson of the late, legendary Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray, has become famous for his verbal miscues and excitable on-air style.

“Since the end of the 2009 MLB Playoffs, we’ve had several discussions with Chip Caray regarding 2010 and beyond. Both sides agree that now is the right time to move ahead on different paths,” the network said in a statement.
