SHARP has developed the world’s first solar- powered TV set.

The 26-inch LCD set is being exhibited at the G8 Summit in Hokkaido, Japan this week.

It uses about one-quarter the power and one-half the energy of an average LCD TV.

The set, which doesn’t have a price tag, is powered by separate solar cell modules which are roughly the same size as the TV’s screen.
