AMERICA’S stunning World Cup upset victory over Portugal snagged decent numbers for ESPN2.
The match, which aired from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday, averaged a 1.19 rating, or 998,000 households.
The 1.19 represents a significant jump over the first six games which aired on ESPN2, averaging a 0.53 rating.
More American TV viewers are expected to watch the next U.S. World Cup soccer match – now that our boys pulled the stunning 3-2 upset victory over Portugal.
The U.S.-South Korea match, which airs 2:25 a.m. Monday, is bound to draw more eyeballs.
Overseas, close to 500 million people are watching the World Cup, which is unfolding in Japan and Korea, according to most estimates.
