‘GEORGE’ GETS SCI-FI TRY
ANOTHER ‘Seinfeld” alumni is getting his own show.
Jason Alexander, who played bumbling George Costanza, is backing a CBS sci-fi show called the “ESPers.”
Michael Richards, Seinfeld’s goofy neighbor Kramer, was the first to land a prime time show after the NBC comedy ended it’s nine-year run in 1998.
But “The Michael Richards Show” – in which Richards plays bumbling a detective – has been struggling to find an audience since it debuted this fall.
The new Alexander drama follows the adventures of a gumshoe who investigates paranormal mysteries with the help of a group of psychics.
“The ESPers,” will also be produced by “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” executive producer Ira Steven Behr, according to trade reports. Alexander has not agreed to star in the show.
For his first appearance on TV after “Seinfeld,” Alexander – a hardcore sci-fi fan – appeared on “Star Trek: Voyager.”– Don Kaplan
