ACTRESS Glenn Close will play a candidate for the U.S. Supreme Court on an upcoming episode of “West Wing.”

After a sitting Supreme Court judge dies, President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) turns to a judge portrayed by Close – but the judge’s liberal politics make her a long-shot to replace the late, arch-conservative.

Close won an Emmy for an earlier TV role, “Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story,” but this is a rare appearance for her on a regular series.
