LONG-time Fox NewsChannel anchorman Brit Hume is planning to quit his daily 6 p.m. newscast and relinquish his role as Washington managing editor for FNC after the November elections.

Hume, 65, a former ABC News correspondent who has played a leading role at Fox News since it was launched in 1996, is reportedly looking forward to reducing his responsibilities, according to published reports.

One of the reports said “Hume has made no secret” that he hopes to retire when his contract expires at the end of this year.

Hume will reportedly continue to be seen occasionally on Fox News, the reports said, as a panelist on “Fox News Sunday” and as a substitute anchor for host Chris Wallace.

Fox News had no comment.
