Rapper Jay-Z topped Forbes magazine’s list of the highest-paid rappers of the past year, the magazine announced Tuesday.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, brought in $63 million over the last 12 months.

Forbes said Carter’s income means he will pay about $22 million in income taxes this year — more than the total earnings of any other rapper on the list except No. 2-ranked Sean “Diddy” Combs, who brought in $30 million.

In addition to being a chart-topping rapper, Jay-Z rakes in cash from a chain of nightclubs he co-owns and a stake in the New Jersey Nets National Basketball Association franchise.

The announcement marks the third time in the four years Forbes has tracked rap’s biggest earners that Jay-Z has sat atop the list. He lost the top spot in 2008 to 50 Cent, but recaptured it the following year. 50 Cent dropped to No. 14 on this year’s list, earning $8 million.

The top five for this year was rounded out by Akon ($30 million), incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne ($20 million) and Dr. Dre ($17 million).
