LOS ANGELES — “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm signed a new contract with Lionsgate TV to play the chain-smoking, hard-drinking womanizer Don Draper for another three years.

The deal locks the actor in for the AMC drama’s fifth, sixth and seventh seasons and Hamm was expected to receive a major pay rise as part of the agreement, Variety reported late Tuesday citing sources.

By the end of the Emmy-winning hit show’s final season, Hamm was set to earn over $250,000 an episode, according to the report.

However, “Mad Men” fans will have to wait until early 2012 to see Hamm reprise his role when the fifth season finally airs in the US.

The announcement came months after it was revealed that show creator Matthew Weiner had inked a deal for two more years, with the option of an additional seventh season.

Reps for Lionsgate and Hamm declined comment.
