DETROIT’s Game 5 victory over the L.A. Lakers secured the Pistons an NBA Championship – and translated into big numbers for ABC.

Ratings for Tuesday’s game were up a whopping 123 percent from last year’s NBA Finals Game 5 (New Jersey-San Antonio) – with viewership peaking from 11:30 to 11:50 p.m.

In all, the game attracted 21.9 million viewers.

The game netted ABC its largest Tuesday-night audience in three years and led the network to an easy victory.

A whopping 68 percent of Detroit TV sets tuned into the game, compared to only 47 percent of L.A. TV sets, according to Nielsen.
