STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951)
Sunday, 10:15 a.m., TCM
Hitchcock classic about a sleek tennis pro (Farley Granger) who jokes with a psychopathic socialite (Robert Walker) about murdering his wife, so when she is actually killed, he realizes the nut wants him to kill someone too. Raymond Chandler co-wrote the screenplay to this excellent, sinister mystery that co-stars Ruth Roman.
THE STAR (1952)
Monday, 4:30 a.m., TCM
Only three years after “All About Eve,” Bette Davis played another aging actress who had none of Margo Channing’s resilience. One of Davis’ B movies, “The Star” has one great scene where Davis props her Academy Award on the dashboard of her car and says, “Come on, Oscar, let’s you and me go get drunk!”
THE CLIENT (1994)
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., AMC
After witnessing a prominent criminal’s confession and suicide, a scared boy (the late Brad Renfro) hires a recovering alcoholic lawyer (Susan Sarandon) to protect him. Good, atmospheric courtroom drama from the John Grisham novel. Oscar nominee Sarandon has juicy scenes with Tommy Lee Jones as the showboating prosecuting attorney.
INSIDE MAN (2006)
Saturday, 8 p.m., BET
A bank robber’s (Clive Owen) attempt at the perfect heist becomes a stressful hostage situation that forces a resolute cop (Denzel Washington) to call upon a distinguished negotiator played by an especially chilly and controlled Jodie Foster. Co-starring Christopher Plummer.
