‘Revenge’ is sweet
ABC has given full-season orders to freshman series “Revenge” and “Suburgatory” — and has ordered six more episodes of second-season series “Happy Endings.”
“Revenge,” starring Emily VanCamp as a young woman who returns to the Hamptons to avenge her family, specifically her father’s death, has averaged 9 million viewers at 10 p.m. It co-stars Madeleine Stowe.
“Suburgatory,” a sitcom starring Jeremy Sisto as a single dad who moves to suburbia with his daughter (Jane Levy), has performed solidly as a lead-in to ABC’s hit sitcom, “Modern Family.”
“Happy Endings,” which airs after “Modern Family,” has struggled a bit since its premiere, but showed a recent uptick in both total viewers and key demos, winning it the additional six-episode order.
The moves at ABC are the first of the season by new programming chief Paul Lee, the former BBC exec who took over at ABC in 2010 after helping to revive the network’s cable sister, ABC Family.
