ROOM TO GROOM
Body wash, pomade and hair gel: They’re not just for girls anymore.
Out this month is a whole lineup of grooming products for guys ages 9 to 16 who, market researchers say, really do care what they look and smell like.
And they don’t want to smell like their sisters.
So concludes Proctor&Gamble, which quizzed more than 200 guys and their moms before rolling out OT (short for Overtime), its new guy-grooming line, this month.
With sporty names like Lid Lock, Body Slam and Pit Defense (that’s the deodorant, natch), the line comes in two basic scents: citrus and powder-fresh.
After checking with its experts – guys ages 11 to 16 – The Post found OT drew mixed reviews.
Most of our testers liked the hair gel – “It even holds through gym,” says 11-year-old Henry Wright. But they gave the stick deodorant a thumb’s down, saying they didn’t like the way it went on or smelled. And at least one guy thought yellow wasn’t such a great color for a shampoo.
As for the sports wash: “It lathers well and washes off easily,” says 12-year-old Charlie Heller. “I got a little in my eye and it doesn’t hurt at all.”
Guess that’s a yes.
You’ll find the line at Target for $2.99 each.
