FOX’S World Series ratings rebounded Sunday night – less than 24 hours after Saturday’s Game 3 reached historically low viewership levels.

Sunday’s Game 4 averaged a solid 15.5 million viewers as the Phillies thrashed Tampa Bay 10-2 to take a commanding 3-1 Series lead.

That was an increase of nearly 6 million viewers from Saturday’s Game 3, which drew a record-low 9.8 million viewers after a 91-minute rain delay resulted in a 10:06 p.m. first pitch – with the game ending at 1:47 a.m. Sunday in a 5-4 Phils’ victory that hardly anyone saw.

Sunday’s Game 4 spike in viewership led Fox to a prime-time win – and to the network’s highest-rated Sunday since last February’s Super Bowl.

The Philly-Tampa Bay matchup was expected to be a ratings challenge for Fox, and thus far that’s been the case (mainly because of Saturday’s ratings debacle).

Through the first four games of the Phils-Rays series, Fox is averaging 13 million viewers.

Last year’s Red Sox-Rockies series – a four-game Boston sweep – averaged 18 million viewers per game.
