Shalit leaves ‘Today’
Gene Shalit, the long time entertainment critic for “Today,” is leaving the show after 40 years.
“It’s enough already,” Shalit said in a statement explaining his departure.
Shalit, known for his wild mustache and his bow ties, joined “Today” in 1970 as a correspondent, then replaced Joe Garagiola as a co-host in 1973.
Shalit’s final day will be Nov. 11.
He turned 85 last March.
