Simon Cowell is taking credit for opening up talks between Piers Morgan and CNN.

“[Morgan] was under contract to us on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ so he called me and we helped sort of broker the deal,” Cowell told ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour on “Extra.”

“I knew about this weeks ago.”

Although nothing’s official yet, Morgan is the front-runner to replace Larry King on CNN after King leaves this fall.

Cowell is an executive producer of “America’s Got Talent.” Morgan is a judge alongside Cowell on “Britain’s Got Talent” and a judge on “AGT.”

“Piers is without question the best interviewer I’ve ever been interviewed by,” Cowell said.
